Ardrossan Castle 5 v 1 Lochan
Saturday 3rd November 2012
Castle played host to bottom of the table Lochan knowing anything less than 3 points would drag them into the relegation battle. Castle started strongly and should have been ahead inside 2 minutes when Forde found himself through on the keeper but saw his shot saved. Lochan shocked the hosts when, in one of their few attacks in the match they took the lead. A catalogue of errors in the home defence allowed the Lochan striker a free run on goal and he finished well. Castle struggled to find any rythmn with their passing and were guilty of looking for the killer ball on far too many occasions but they found their way back into the match on 20 minutes when Donovan slipped Brookes in on goal and inevitably the big man finished the move off. Castle went ahead 5 minutes later when the keeper fumbled a Brookes shot into the path of Donovan who beat 2 defenders to the loose ball to finish. Castle started the second half strongly looking to finish the game early but missed a host of chances before brookes secured the points on the hour when he smashed home a Donovan cross to make it 3-1. Brookes completed his hat trick on 75 minutes when he again went through on the keeper and finished emphatically. Donovan rounded off the scoring in the final minute to get his 2nd and the castles 5th to make the final score 5-1.
